I for one have certainly been there. In fact, I seem to visit it often without even knowing how I got there. It seems to be a place that is somewhat a tourist TRAP. You’re just passing by minding your own business and all of a sudden you find yourself sitting in the parking lot. The trap got you! ….and there you are STUCK! The odd thing is there is not a thing there that you want, need or desire. When you go to leave you can’t find your way out. Arrival was easy, but the departure….not so much!

Years ago, much to my SURPRISE, I found myself STUCK!

I was STUCK and I couldn’t get out! Stuck in the middle of a mess was where I found myself; sitting and unable to move.

Back in the day of early marriage and two small children, my husband and I shared a car; we were a one vehicle family.  Somedays I would drive him to work so I could use the car to run errands, take the little ones to the doctor, or simply get out of the house for some different scenery.

One particular day I remember quite well. In fact, it has been embedded into my memory bank for infinity.  I had decided I would take hubby to work and spend the day out playing with my babies. The PLAN was in place.  I would drop him off and schedule my day so I would be close to his work by quitting time.

He worked as a truck driver for a concrete plant. He delivered concrete in those big trucks with the white rotating drums. He would always explain to me how he had to wash down his truck inside and out; making sure the concrete did not dry up inside the drum. So, I was to always give him time for cleanup. Ok, so no big deal to me. That was easy enough.

This particular day I was so proud of myself. I was punctual and on time to pick him up. Though, I would like to believe I had it perfectly planned, but honestly it would be stretching the truth a bit. I was silently hoping he was still washing out his truck. So, I drove into the south gate a little faster than usual. I had only seconds to arrive at the door and not be late.

Well… let me tell you, it has to be the most memorable entrance I have ever made. Even walking in dressed in a beautiful backless evening gown with a plunging neckline could not have topped the entrance that day.

As I turned into the drive I saw my husband standing and waiting on me. Lucky his back was to me so he did not see my hurried entrance. However, when I made my turn through the gate my car slowed down to a quick crawl and then a sudden stop as I heard the horrid sound of a big gurgling noise; Gluck! Gluck! Gluck! Gluuuuuck… Stop!

There I was stopped at a complete stand still and I had never touched the brakes.

What in the world just happened?! …somehow I wished I had on that plunging neckline.

Still a little dazed at the event, I saw two things:  two men were walking away with tools in their hands and my husband shaking his head in disbelief. The other men were pointing at me and laughing hysterically. I thought at first that I had driven into the area where they must wash the trucks, but not so. No, not so simple. Miss Smarty Pants here had actually driven into fresh poured concrete! The concrete plant had decided to redo a section of the driveway and I was sitting smack dab in the middle of it. I had sunk down into the freshly poured concrete to the bottom of my car. The two men I saw walking away had just finished leveling the job.

To my own defense, they did not block the area off or put up any warning signs; something to inform me not to drive through the gate. How was I to know I wasn’t supposed to enter the open gate?

Everyone began encouraging me to hurry and hit the gas so I could quickly get out. It was useless! My little car did not have the power to pull herself out. She was only a 4 cylinder stick shift and the concrete had already started to dry. Oh my! What was I to do?

There I was sitting in concrete wading up to the bottom of my car. When I hit the gas as directed nothing happened, with the exception of spewing concrete from the attempted traction of my tires. I was only digging deeper into the mud.  I was devastated and so embarrassed. My whole thought process had changed. I was no longer so sure of myself. I had been stopped dead in my tracks and there was no way I could get myself out of the mess alone. I needed help!

Well…there was hope after all. The two men I saw walking away turned around and began walking back to the scene of the mess I had so innocently made. The only alternative was to push my car out of the quickly drying concrete.  I felt horrible, because I knew what was going to happen…I had just seen it. The two men stepped down into the concrete and pushed my car out while I accelerated on the gas. Unfortunately, they were bathed from top to bottom in spewing concrete.

I was so thankful that they did what it took to help get me out of the mess I was in. Trust me when I say this, they were covered in concrete! They paid the price for my mistake.

At one time or another we all find ourselves STUCK; whether it is stuck in concrete or a place in our life. We can’t seem to move forward. Sometimes we can’t even get out of the car!

Don’t stay there lingering around! Don’t let the concrete dry! Don’t get so deep that you think it’s impossible to get out.

At times we all get stuck in those places in life.

When you find yourself in that place…. REMEMBER you’re not alone! This is a place that has a lot of visitors; some come and go often.

There are no warning signs displayed! You don’t see what’s ahead of you…road blocks go up… bridges are out… AND…You get stopped dead in your tracks! The trap got you! There you sitting in the parking lot of STUCK.

You’re going deeper into the mud! Fear may be taking over your circumstances, but REMEMBER…. You cannot get out alone! You need assistance.

There are many reasons why we may find ourselves stuck. ….Maybe we can’t let go of the old because we’re afraid of the new; afraid to move forward. ….Maybe we are afraid of success. ….Maybe we are stuck in the past. ….Maybe we don’t know why were stuck.

As a life coach, I get it! Trust me when I tell you I’ve been there and I understand; I too had to get help!

More IMPORTANT…. I know with a little help you have the POWER to get out of STUCK.

….the Word says …I did not give you a spirit of fear, but of POWER and of LOVE, and a SOUND MIND (2 Timothy 1:7).

…God’s promise… For I know the plans I have for you, plans to PROSPER you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a FUTURE (Jeremiah 29:11).
